Meet Beija, your current OGSD Board president and Trustee of district. She is a former OGSD student, a proud mother to two current OGSD students, and daughter to a devoted lifetime district employee. With strong roots to this community she felt called to devote her time and energy into upholding and improving the great district that raised her, provided her father with a career, and is currently educating her two young children. She began her work on the board in 2020 and since then has championed student safety, parent and district relations, teacher support and collaboration, and much more!

Beija is A San Jose community member who is the peoples’ choice because she chooses the people first. Beija is a lead community organizer who understands what it takes to adopt the concerns of neighbors, organize actions inclusive of the community, and drive towards equitable and sustainable social change. A trusted ally who is often called upon to facilitate restorative conversations and healing. An Afro-Latina mother of two she represents our diverse population and knows first hand what it’s like to raise children in this educational system. Beija is an advocate and ally committed to making sure families and youth have opportunities that will uplift and empower them to champion our community.
